First Show With Sindri

 Sindri did really well with his first show, he warmed up in the lower ring really well, he was very looky but got to work when I asked him to. In our warm up we just focused on finding a nice consistent, focused, medium trot on a circle and on the rail.

We hung out at the upper ring while they finished up the high jump, and then we schooled in there, it was pure chaos so I trotted where/when I could and the trotted him into a few of the jumps when everybody else left the ring.

Our warm up course went pretty well, he got a bit strong before the triple so we circled before that so he wouldn't get rushy and stronger through the line. The rest of the course was about the same, when he got strong I would have him trot and reset his brain. The turn from the two outside line to the top jump was very hard for us as he tended to be strong coming out of the lines and we didn't have enough time to reset before that jump, so i have to say that top jump was probably the worst on in each of our courses, but i'm hoping that with some time and more experience in the show atmosphere he'll get less rushy.

The rest of his courses were somewhat the same but they did get better with each round, and he would settle back to me more at the canter. After each of the courses he did his own little lap around the ring before he would come back down, I thought it was funny how he knew when we were done with the courses, but he probably knew because I didn't point him at another jump 😂

We had to wait quite a while before high jump, so we walked down the path a bit because he didn't really want to stand still. He had a lot of sweat on him after his courses but as it got cooler he dried completely before high jump even started.

We started just as a cross pole and then slowly made our way up, he was very excited about it and kept prancing in the line. I made him trot into the jumps because he was already so strong I didn't think adding in canter would help. When we got out at 21'' it was a bit disappointing because he could obviously clear 2' since we did that in our rounds, but thinking back on it, I think I really did make the right choice with staying at the trot, and I think in the end getting out where we did was very good for him because I think he would have gotten really strong once the jump got bigger and we were cantering in, so I think in the end it was a really good learning experience for him.

Overall I'm really happy with how he did and I think he did such a great job with it being his first show.
