Sindri Was Amazing!!!

Today I was able to ride Sindri!! He was amazing, and I’m super happy with how he did.

He was a bit excited in the beginning, but it was also colder out, and there was a bit of a breeze too, but he settled down nicely after we walked around a bit. We worked on staying loose and supple at the trot. We did some big circles, serpentines, and figure eights.

When we cantered, I started with his harder lead (right), and it took him a couple of tries to pick it up, but once he did, we achieved my goal of cantering a whole lap without counter bending or breaking from the canter on his right lead!
first try to get right lead

We got it!!!

He picked up his left lead great, and cantered quite nicely around the ring.

I experimented in half-seating his canter today, because he had some time off and wanted to stretch his legs and move a bit so I stayed off his back this time and he did great! after we cantered both ways he thought we were done and kept stopping at the gate like “come on, we're done now” but we did a little more trot work and tried to pick his right lead canter up once more to try and get a better transition, and we did get a nicer transition!
I have a theory that because his right lead is harder for him he needs to warm up a bit more before we canter that way because the first time I rode him we started on our left lead and then when we tried right lead he picked it up great, but today when we started right he didn't pick it up as well until after we had cantered to the left... I’m not sure if this is something I'm onto or if it's just a coincidence πŸ˜‚
After our ride, he got lots of scratches and love, along with some treats!
Post ride love!
